Because of the collabaddin.dll Add-In installed by Lync in Word, Excel and PowerPoint we have the possibility to:

send the current document using an instant message;

share the current document window.
Note: To use these two features you must have Lync started.
Those two options are located in the File menu – Save & Send section: Send by Instant Message and Share Document Window.
More than that, these two options are also available in the Review tab – Share: Share Now and Send by IM.
1. Send by Instant Message

in the To field add the desired users;

add a subject;
-
add a custom message.
After filling those fields press on Send IM button.
2. Share Document Window

in the To field add the desired users;

add a subject;

add a custom message.
After filling those fields press on Share Window button.
